4 out of 5 stars Very Good Product But Not Very Compact   August 26, 2010
Joe
These earmuffs are awesome. They are extremely comfy and block sound very well. The only thing I would change is the compactness. I was looking at a few other Peltor muffs and some of them fold into the upper headband part making them very compact. These don't do that so they are a little bulky when traveling with them. You are also unable to remove the pads for cleaning/replacement. Other than that, they are great muffs, especially for the price!

5 out of 5 stars Great Earmuffs for mowing the lawn   August 23, 2010
L. Sernyk
I had been using those little foam ear plugs to protect my ears when mowing but they were next to useless. They didn't block out much of the noise and kept falling out. I mow for about 1.2 hours at least once a week and I needed something better.

I searched on Amazon, found these and based on the other reviews ordered a pair. They are nothing short of awesome. I have a small Kubota diesel tractor with mower deck and when tractor is on low speed, I can hardly hear it at all with these earmuffs on. Even at mowing speed, I can only faintly hear the tractor.

These earmuffs cover my ears completely and at least for me are very comfortable to wear for 1.5 hours at a time. I thought it might get hot with them on but I have mowed several times this summer with 90F+ temperatures without any problem.

A caution is that these earmuffs block out sound so well that I need to be very careful when going out onto the road as I cannot hear the traffic.

I highly recommend these earmuffs for use as hearing protectors when mowing your lawn or in other high noise areas.

4 out of 5 stars Low price for silence   August 21, 2010

These Peltor Earmuffs are really great for the price. I don't usually wear them for more than 15 to 20 minutes at a time so I have not experienced "Head Clamp" discomfort, That may be an issue with long term wear because the band is fairly tight to make a good seal. Yet these are more comfortable than my Peltor aviation headsets. For working in the shop, mowing the lawn, hanging around the flight line or watching the Blue Angles practice in El Centro, CA (My intended use) these are a great buy. Your ears will appreciate them.

4 out of 5 stars Adequate sound attenuation at indoor shooting range   August 18, 2010

I use them at an indoor shooting range that allows mid-sized rifles. They attenuate the sound well even from adjacent booths. Very comfortable for handgun shooting. A little bulky when shooting rifles with stock tucked at chin.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but not for indoors shooting   August 18, 2010

I bought these to use at my local indoor range as some reviewers said they were good for this purpose. After all, they have one of the highest NRR available. However, when I tried them at the gun range, they didn't perform as expected. I even added double protection (ear plugs) but it was not enough, my ears were ringing after the session. Perhaps I'm too sensitive to loud noises and that's why they didn't do the trick for me. I was looking for something good at a reasonable price, but I guess I will have to spend more money if I really want to protect my hearing.
